Court Orders Onyeka Onwenu To Publicly Apologise To Tony Okoroji And To Pay Him Five Million Naira For Defamation

Legendary singer Onyeka Owenu has been ordered by a Lagos High Court to publicly apologise and pay the sum of N5 million to Chief Tony Okoroji, the Chairman of the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), for defamation of character.
According to CosonNG  reports, the 64-year-old songstress was mandated to give an unreserved public apology to Mr Okoroji at a court sitting held yesterday in Ikeja. The apology is to be published in the print and online version of Vanguard Newspapers.
Reacting to the judgment, Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle revealed that he earlier warned Onyeka about her feud with the former PMAN chairman but she refused to listen. “Some will recall that I publicly cautioned Onyeka Onwenu when she began her ill-advised war of attrition against Chief Tony Okoroji. I told her that she was taking on the wrong guy. She refused to listen. Now, the chickens have come home to roost and she has to pay for her attempt to destroy a good man” he said.
